Switzerland has once again topped the list of most innovative countries in the Global Innovation Index 2013 (GII) for the third time in a row. In order to take advantage of this prime innovative environment, MYK is further pursuing Swiss companies with pioneering technologies for future partnerships and collaborations in the coming months.

Switzerland’s strong performance has been attributed to a number of factors, such as its highly skilled workforce, its strong education (both academic and professional), high research and development expenditure, high level of collaborations between universities and industry, and great political stability. On the other hand, the GII report also suggests its weaknesses. It is relatively difficult to set up small businesses in Switzerland. Also, the score of Switzerland for the number of venture capital deals is surprisingly low. The report suggests a low level of foreign-financed R&D and FDI net inflow. Furthermore, some indicators show below-average shares of companies collaborating with each other and below-average level of knowledge-intensive service exports.

MYK find itself highly drawn to the Swiss entrepreneurial scene because of the inherent alignment between our mandate and the requirements of the innovative environment in Switzerland. With the Swiss market providing MYKs need for innovative ideas; MYK is suited for meeting the market’s needs for FDI, commercialization practices, and innovation-capability deployment.

At MYK, we strongly believe that innovation success leads to the emergence of a virtuous cycle. Once a critical threshold has been reached, investment attracts investment, talent attracts talent, and innovation generates more innovation. We remain dedicated to being a key player in this cycle by bringing our expertise to the service of Swiss innovative talent in 2014 and the years to come.
